Wapsi Sow Scud

Wapsi Sow Scud was made for realistic sow bug and scud imitations. Its blend of natural opossum fur, Super Bright and Antron combines a dubbing that is easy to work with and a body surface that is usefully irregular. The opossum provides the fur-like foundation, while the sparkling elements add visual interest and Antron contributes extra see-through effect within the body. It is a practical choice when a scud pattern should look textured rather than flat.

Construction and use

Apply it to sow bug bodies, scuds and similar bottom-dwelling invertebrate patterns. The blend twists readily onto the thread for a neat abdomen or thorax, while a dubbing loop can create a fuller, more fibrous profile. Once the body is formed, tease it lightly with a needle or dubbing brush. This separates a few fibres and preserves the compact outline needed for a convincing imitation instead of turning the whole body into a loose halo.
