Wapsi Spanflex

Wapsi Spanflex is elastic strand material supplied in lengths of approximately 6 inches, or 15 cm, for bodies, ribbing, legs, feelers and tails. After being stretched, the material returns toward its original form, so it can be used as a single accent or wound around a body. The strands can be trimmed to the length required by the pattern.

Construction and use

Cut the required length and secure one end with several thread wraps. When using Spanflex as ribbing, wind it with even tension; wider spacing gives a clearly divided body, while touching turns create a denser covering. For legs and feelers, choose shorter sections, tie them in at the anchor point and trim them to length after securing. Keep thread pressure moderate at the tie-in point so the elastic strand is not excessively narrowed or cut.
