Wapsi Stretch Tubing
Wapsi Stretch Tubing is hollow elastic tubing with memory. It is used for wound segmented bodies and for ribbing nymphs or streamers. Stretching the tubing changes how widely it covers the hook shank and underbody, while its memory helps it retain the shape established during tying.
Construction and use
Cut a suitable section, slide it over the hook shank, or tie in one end at the rear and wind it toward the front. Touching turns create a continuous segmented body; spaced turns produce a distinct rib. Control the finished width by adjusting tension as you wind. Where the pattern calls for it, coloured wire may be threaded through the hollow centre before the tubing is secured at the head.
- Form: hollow elastic tubing with stretch and shape memory.
- Technique: use touching or spaced turns for a body or ribbing.
- Uses: segmented nymph and streamer bodies, plus defined ribbing.
