Wapsi Tinsel Chenille
Wapsi Tinsel Chenille is a strong chenille with a tinsel finish for building fly bodies with a pronounced reflective appearance. It combines a conventional windable chenille form with a sparkling surface, allowing it to serve as a complete body, a segmented section or an accent in a streamer. Its documented applications include streamers, pike flies and saltwater flies.
Construction and use
Expose a short section of the chenille core before tying it in. Secure the core to the hook shank, trim the loose end, and wrap the material forward in adjacent turns. Sweep the fibres back before each turn to keep the surface even and reduce trapping or compression. Tinsel Chenille may form the main streamer body or be combined with a tail, wing and rib in a larger pattern. Select a profile appropriate to the hook and maintain consistent tension so the body does not narrow unintentionally. Cover the front tie-in neatly before forming the head.
