Wapsi Wool Yarn
Wapsi Wool Yarn is a continuous wool yarn for forming fly bodies, thoraxes and other fly components. It can be used in nymphs, streamers and patterns that call for a soft, fibrous material along the hook shank.
Construction and use
Cut the required length before tying and secure the end so the yarn remains under control while it is handled. Depending on the pattern, it may be wound directly along the shank, built up in layers, or separated into strands for a tail, body section or other detail. Tension and the number of wraps determine the fullness of the finished body. When changing direction, keep the material under even tension and arrange the fibres so they do not create unwanted lumps. The yarn can also be trimmed after tying when a more defined body outline is required.
- Form: continuous yarn intended for fly tying.
- Material: wool structure for a soft, fibrous body profile.
- Uses: nymph thoraxes, streamer bodies and additional fly details.
- Handling: may be wound, arranged in strands or divided into shorter sections.
