1. Airing and cleaning
Air the garment after use and allow it to dry. Wash it when dirt or hygiene during use makes this necessary. Remove fresh dirt gently, without vigorous rubbing. This also applies to merino blends with cotton, TENCEL or synthetic fibres.
2. Preparing for washing
Check the care label for the whole garment, not just the instructions for one material component. If the construction allows, turn the garment inside out and secure the fastenings. Wash with similar colours, separately from hook-and-loop fasteners and sharp items.
3. Washing products
Use a mild wool detergent that is also suitable for the other fibres in the blend. Do not use bleach or enzymatic detergents unsuitable for wool. Follow the recommended dosage and rinse out all detergent residue thoroughly.
4. Gentle washing
Choose the washing method and temperature according to the care label. Machine washing is permitted only if the care label allows it; use the specified wool or delicate-garment programme. When hand washing, do not rub, wring or stretch the fabric. Avoid sudden changes in water temperature.
5. Drying and maintaining shape
Gently press out excess water in a towel, without wringing. Lay the knitwear flat to dry, reshaping it to its natural shape. Dry it in the shade, away from radiators and hot air. Tumble drying and ironing require explicit permission on the care label and compliance with its settings.
6. Storage
Store the garment clean, completely dry and loosely folded. Provide a dry, cool place and protection against moths suitable for textiles. Do not seal damp clothing in a bag or leave it in a heated car or near sources of heat.
7. Inspection and repairs
Check the seams and areas exposed to abrasion. Do not pull out snagged loops or threads. Remove pilling gently with a tool suitable for knitwear. Repair small holes and damage before they become larger. Use materials suitable for the type of garment and the part being repaired, or use a professional repair service.
